Protein World - Beach Body Ready

In 2015 Protein World released an ad which was described to body shame women. Quite a stir was raised where posters were tagged over with "all bodies are ready", "bikini ready is putting on a bikini" or "yes we are ready", etc. it was also banned in the UK as there were claims to "health and weight loss" in the ad. (Magadldi, 2015)

It is seen as the only body ready for the beach is the one present on the ad, and others should consider the Protein World's weight loss collection. With the only body representing a beach body being: a slim woman, is offending to other women who do not have that kind of body or are not capable of getting this kind of shape.

With protein world concluding "that the headline and image were unlikely to cause serious or widespread offence.” (Sweney, 2015) this is a good example as to why this website is good guidance for other advertising companies. Body image is a sensitive subject, the same with racism, etc, it effects many people. It could result to defacing of the posters and petitions for it to be removed which puts a negative impact on their brand.
